After 3 long years I am finally done working at my job! Woohoo!! although it has been fun, and I've met a ton of amazing people, I'm happy to be done. This past year has been pretty hard, and somedays I just couldn't take it, but every day around 9:20 there was one customer who would come through the drive thru and order the same thing: a large double double and a carrot muffin.
Now I have known this customer for a couple years, actually I just knew his name and what he looked like, but that was about it. Everyday he would ask how I was and after he paid he would tell me to have a beautiful day and God bless. I looked forward to seeing him come through the drive thru so I could be told to have a beautiful day, and the days he didn't come just felt empty. Today on my last day of work, he came. He ordered his meal, came to the window and instead of us having our usual conversation he seemed to really try to get to know me. He looked at my name tag and saw that it said "shift manager" then he asked me how I liked working there. I told him it was alright but today was my last day. He then asked me what I was going to do for the summer. I told him I would be working at SABC. The first words out of his mouth were "oh! so you love Jesus" I excitedly said yes! Then he asked what I was doing after summer, I told him I was going to Capernwray in England. He seemed even more shocked. He looked at my nametag again and saw my name. I told him my full name and that my father was pastor Garth from the E-Free Church. This really blew him away. It was then time for him to move on, "Have a beautiful day and God bless" were his last words.
I don't know if I will ever have the chance to talk to him again, but it's people like that, that make me smile and think, wow if someone can tell a total stranger to have a beautiful day and God bless, then why can't I? I want to be the person telling others to have an amazing day and remind them that God is with them no matter how crappy they may think there llife is. Those days at work when I felt like I was going to die and just didn't want to be there were awful, but I always new the day would get just a little better when I heard through the headset, "large double double and a carrot muffin." God works through mysterious ways, it's as if somehow God told him to go today at that specific time because there was something that needed to be said to someone who really needed a reminder to be blessed. God always knows when I need a pick-me-up and sends them at the right time, even if its through something as simple as the drive thru.
